With the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) coming into full effect in July 2021, e-commerce businesses are legally obligated to put in place the necessary firewalls and safety measures that ensure that their clients’ personal information does not fall into the wrong hands. If your e-commerce business collects client data, even if it is just for a mailing list, POPIA’s regulations will apply to you.
Creating copyright is a lot simpler than most people know. By simply using the international copyright logo with the date (e.g. © 2021), or using the words “copyright”/“copyright reserved”, you own the right to what you have created. For music, writing and art, the process is simple. When it comes to any film/video footage, however, the registration has to happen through the Registrar of Copyright.
